Travelling out
Thousands of Sunderland fans will make the trip. Here's the practical stuff worth thinking about before you go — packing, kit, matchday and getting about the city.
Flights, trains and the long way round. Plenty of fans will route through other European cities — compare before you commit, and check baggage rules twice.
Milan is served by more than one airport, and they're not all close to the city. Check which one you're actually landing at and how you're getting in from it.
Central, near a Metro line, or cheaper and further out — all fine, as long as you know how you're getting back after a night match.
Get familiar with the Metro and tram map before you land, allow more time than you think, and check official transport updates on the day.

The story
For years it was a question aimed at Sunderland fans as a wind-up. Then Sunderland went and got themselves a trip to Milan. Funny how these things work out.
